ProVQ Technical Trainer – Agriculture & Turf

Purpose of Job

To support ProVQ’s mission “to be externally validated and recognised as an outstanding training provider’ by Providing specialist training services to ProVQ’s customers within the agricultural industry.

The ProVQ Technical Trainer – Agriculture & Turf, is responsible for all day-to-day aspects of the delivery and assessment of training to groups of learners and, in consultation with the Centre Manager, makes decisions in relation to the needs and opportunities for each Learner within the context of provision and targeted progression opportunities.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Responsible for delivering and managing all components of learner progress through to achievement of the End Point Assessment
  • Marking work and feeding back to learners on how improvements can be made
  • Escalate any concerns with learner progression to the Centre Manager
  • Liaise regularly with your line manager on learner’s progress, welfare, and health and safety issues
  • Identify and report any factors that may put a learner at risk of not achieving their learning aims, using the correct paperwork and guidance notes as provided by ProVQ
  • Work with Learning and Development Advisors, Technical Learner Support and Functional Skills staff to ensure that all support requirements are met for learners to achieve all their learning aims
  • Arranging and invigilating examinations
  • Arranging and conducting skills testing
  • Developing and updating training courses
  • Maintain learner records for all learners and update reporting details
  • Ensure consistency between Training Instructor records and Learner data stored in the ProVQ recording systems ensuring that it is accurate and up to date at all times
  • Mentor learners
  • Maintenance and development of training aids, workshop facilities and resources
  • Promote efficient use of resources with particular emphasis on reducing the detrimental effects of such resource use on the environment
  • Promote a safe working environment in accordance with current legislation
  • Liaise with your line manager on training issues
  • Attend staff meetings and forums and contribute to specific development projects
  • Ensure all documentation is completed fully, following all guidelines in accordance with company policy
  • Contribute to process of continual improvement
  • Manage all process and administration requirements in accordance with company procedures
  • Participate fully in the quality assurance activities of the approved centre, including internal and external verification/audits
  • Actively promote Equality and Diversity in accordance with ProVQ policy to ensure compliance and that no individual is discriminated against
  • Actively support company policy and best practice in security, with particular emphasis on protection of customer sensitive information (GDPR legislation)
  • Actively support and promote the work of the Functional Skills team
  • Contribute to the embedding of English and Maths within the apprenticeship programme
  • Participate in the work of the training facilities through attendance at meetings and forums, contributing to specific development projects and activities to promote the apprenticeship and commercial programmes
  • Keep up to date with technical and academic knowledge
  • Report any driving endorsements or points added to your driving licence
  • Maintain personal CPD by attending/completing all training as required
  • Maintain personal CPD logs and upload as prescribed
  • Actively follow up any unresolved issues with Line Manager in a timely manner
  • Keep up to date with technical and academic knowledge
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promote the welfare of all learners and staff

Essential qualifications

  • Appropriate occupational qualification and level of occupational competence
  • Full Driving License holder

Desirable qualifications

  • Teaching qualification (PTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, Cert Ed or NVQ equivalent)
  • A-units or equivalent
  • Relevant Health & Safety Qualification
  • First Aid at Work Qualification
  • Safeguarding course
